To ensure that I was offering inclusive education to all my students in my classroom, I would be cognizant to provide universal design learning (UDL) and differentiated instruction in my classroom to ensure the academic success of each student. Diverse learners can range from students having learning disabilities, multicultural learners and anyone that may be an outlier in the classroom. Differentiated learning and UDL allows the teacher to bridge the gap between class outliers and to ensure the engagement of both emergent and proficient learners to reach their learning intentions or goals. It is imperative we value our diverse communities that begin with start at school, where all students learn to live alongside peers. They learn together; they play together; they grow and are nurtured together. Educators can help cultivate inclusive education in their learning spaces by developing and designing our schools, classrooms, programs and activities so that all students learn and participate together. I was able to introduce a Restorative Circle into my classroom once a week to better improve our class community. Every student is offered a voice by means of a talking stick, as others listen respectfully and ensure confidentiality of what is discussed in our class community. This practice was an excellent way to integrate Aboriginal education into the classroom by to help improve class dynamics to encourage a respectful and healthy learning space.
